Back on BETTER TV! Shaking Up Holiday Cheer!!!

// December 10th, 2009 // No Comments » // Events, Food and Drink, General, News, Recipes, Seasonal/Holiday

IMG_0428This past Tuesday, I had the honor of once again appearing as a guest on the nationally syndicated lifetstyle and entertainment show BETTER!   I had a blast with BETTER  reporter, Rhiannon Ally, shaking up my world famous “WHITE CHRISTMAS MARTINI” and my brand new “LAST CALL COCKTAIL”!, inspired for and by all those on the fly holiday hosts and hostesss who need a elegant but easy to make cocktail for those last minute holiday guests.  All the ingredients in the “LAST CALL” can easily be found within arms reach in any home dressed for the holidays.

Here’s how you make each cocktail….

Signature David’s “White Christmas Martini”

1 1/2 oz 42Below vodka, 1 1/2 oz Godiva White Chocolate Liqueur, 1 oz half and half, Drizzle of Chambord, Drizzle of Frangelico

Combine ingredients in a shaker over crushed ice. Shake well (until frothy!!!) and strain into a well-chilled marinti glass. Screwer three plump raspberries on a white birch twig and lay across the top of martini glass. Dust the raspberries with confectioner’s sugar.

Signature David’s “Last Call Cocktail”

1 oz 42Below vodka, 1 1/2 oz Orange Juice, 1 1/2 oz Cranberry Juice, Champagne

Combine all ingredients with the exception of the champagne over a shaker filled with ice and shake well.  Strain into a champagne flute and top with two the three ounces of champagne (depending on the size of your glass).  Garnish with an orange peel skewered on a metal pick.

Thanks, again, to Rhiannon and all the great folks at BETTER.   The Christmas show will air on Christmas Eve, so be sure to check your tv listings for your local station and air time.  You can also visit the BETTER website at www.better.tv  for more information or to view the videos on line.

Merry Christmas, everyone!

Jake and Suzanne Get Married! Wedding Guests Go Ga-Ga Over My “MELON CUCUMBER MARGARITA”!!!

// September 22nd, 2009 // No Comments » // Food and Drink, General, Recipes

On Friday, September 18th, two of my most favorite people on the planet got married!  Yes, my niece Suzanne and her long time beau Jake exchanged vows in a beautiful and truly touching ceremony in front of family and friends in the gardens of the historic Wells/Deane house in Wethersfield, CT.  It was an amazing evening of love and laughter, song and dance, and, of course, food and drink.  Their dinner menu was eclectic gourmet Mexican and I put my touch on the evening by creating a signature cocktail to mirror their choice of cuisine and add to the merriment of the evening.  My creation was a “MELON and CUCUMBER MARGARITA”.  Needless to say it was a HUGE hit!

I’m sure that Jake and Suzanne won’t mind me sharing the recipe with you all, so here’s how you make it…

2 oz Patron  Silver Tequila, 3/4 oz Midori Melon Liqueur, 1/2 oz Cointreau, Splash of Fresh Lemon Juice, Splash of Fresh Lime Juice, Splash of Pineapple Juice, 4 thin slices of English Cucumber.  Mull Cucumber in the bottom of a shake glass, fill shake with ice and add all ingredients.  Shake well and pour with ice into a rocks glass.  Garnish with a wedge of watermelon (no rind).  There you have it… my “MELON and CUCUMBER MARGARITA”!

I want to wish Suzanne and Jake all my love and best wishes for a long and happy life together filled with much love, laughter and song!

Cheers! David

Pink and Pearls!

// September 11th, 2009 // No Comments » // General, News, Recipes

Cake and CocktailPINK and PEARLS!!!  FIFTY and FABULOUS!!!  Those words depict the absolutely over the top 5oth birthday bash I attended this week for my friend Lorraine!  I first met Lorraine during my junior year at The University of Connecticut when we were selected as Freshmen Orientation Leaders for the summer.  OMG, what fun we had and how little sleep we got during those seven crazy weeks!  Anyway, about a zillion years sped past and Lorraine and I lost contact, until last Spring when I got an email from her telling me how she had just seen me on one of my appearances on “Better Connecticut”.  I immediately called Lorraine and we had a great time catching up.  During out chat, she mentioned that she was having a milestone birthday in the fall and asked me if I would create a special cocktail for her big day.  Of course, I said YES!!!

As Lorraine’s birthday approached, I got the word from her husband and her amazing group of friends that the theme of the party would be ”pink and pearls!  In other words, to brace myself for a house full of fabulous women dressed to the nine’s in pink attire and all wearing pearls.  So, I knew I had my work cut out for me.  Here’s a picture of  my creation, “PINK and PEARLS” and Lorraine’s absolutely scrumptuous birthday cake.   Now, I can’t tell you what’s in this cocktail, but I can tell you it captured the magic of the evening and everyone loved it…including Sarah Palin who made a hillarious guest appearance to roast Lorraine!

So, thanks Lorraine for including me in your big day.  I had a ball!

Cheers!  David

Summer May Be Over…But the Party NEVER Ends!!!

// September 7th, 2009 // No Comments » // Events, Food and Drink, General, Recipes, Seasonal/Holiday

1

Ahhhhh….Labor Day!  The “official” end to Summer and, also, just by chance, my birthday weekend.   AND, what a weekend it was!!!!  Thanks to all my wonderful friends and my fabulous family for making it a birthday I’ll cherish for years to come….or at least until next year!  Woo hoo!   But, I ask you…does Summer fun really have to end, and does the party need to stop?  Here’s my emphatic answer…NO!  We just add a few more layers of clothing and start fueling up the fires of Fall and let the party roll on.  So, for those of you (like me) who are hanging on to every last ray of sunshine…here’s my end of summer gift to you.  Appropriately, I call it “ENDLESS SUMMER” and here’s how you make it…

Combine 1 1/2 oz vodka, 1/2 oz Cointreau, 1  oz lemonade (pink preferred) 1 1/2 oz Gatorade Sour Melon, a splash of Midori in a shaker full of ice.  Shake vigorously and strain into a chilled martini glass.  Top with a splash of champagne and drop just a touch of grenadine into the bottom of the glass.   And voila, there you have it, ENDLESS SUMMER!!!!

It’s cool, refreshing and oh so delicious!  Trust me, see how happy I look in this picture?

So, stay tuned for lots of great new concoctions coming your way in the next few weeks as I get fueled up for Fall!

Cheers!  David

She SHOOTS! She SCORES! THE PERFECT “BACK TO SCHOOL” SHOT!

// September 1st, 2009 // No Comments » // Food and Drink, General, Recipes, Seasonal/Holiday

Just what every Mom needs!

Just what every Mom needs!

TO MOMS EVERYWHERE,

Hello ladies, it’s September!!! And we all know what that means? Yes, that’s right, BACK TO SCHOOL TIME!!! FREEDOM HAS ARRIVED!!! So, to celebrate I suggest gathering your neighborhood gal pals together and once you’ve got your  little rug rats all packed up and on the school bus… LET THE PARTY BEGIN!!! And what better way to celebrate than with a one-of-a-kind Signature David “BACK TO SCHOOL” shot! It’s a guaranteed winner and it’s even got some fabulous Starbuck’s Liqueur in it, so when your hubby calls and says “How’s it going honey?” you can honestly say, “Just having some coffee with the girls!” Ha ha!

Now, here’s how you make it… combine 1/2 oz of vodka, 1/2 oz of Starbucks Cream Liqueur and a drizzle of grenadine into a shake of crushed ice. Shake well and strain into a shot glass. Garnish with a big plump juicy cherry. For added fun see who can tie the stem of the cherry into a knot using their tongue.

Ok, note to those w/o kids, this is also the perfect shot to celebrate Season Six of Desperate Housewives! Every time, Susan Meyer does something stupid you do a shot!

Enjoy and Happy September!

BTW, my birthday is in 3 days (9/4)… just one more reason to celebrate! Any and all gifts, greetings, bags of cash are gladly accepted!

Cheers! David
